Whoops! I didn't mean to be quiet for so long! 😖
Hello My Freaky Darlings!
What have I been doing for the last two weeks? Well, I have mostly been working my day job, but in my spare time I've been creating my first ever art commission!
I was asked to draw an image of Groot, from the Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy, to be a birthday gift for a friend of the client.
Groot is one of my favourite characters, so I was chuffed to be asked to draw him! I really enjoyed drawing this piece, there was a moment though, in the middle of adding colour, that I started to doubt my skills and to really dislike the piece. In the end, however, I'm really pleased with how he turned out. 😊 Creating art can be such an emotional rollercoaster!
I drew an initial pencil sketch. Then, I used Derwent Inktense pencils to apply colour and activated it with water. The moss and vines were painted with Royal & Langnickel Essentials Gouache. Lastly, all the detail was drawn in with Sakura Pigma Micron pen in black.
The finished piece:
I have been informed that my picture of Groot is loved by his new owner and was hung on the wall moments after being received! 😄
What's next?
It is my intention to release a render process video of Groot in the near future; got about 5 hours of video footage to go through! 😵 Of course, I will let you all know when it's released on my YouTube channel.
Also, I want to write about having a day job, it's benefits and it's frustrations; that will be a whole other blog post.
I hope you love Groot as much as me and his new owner do. Leave a comment and let me know!
See you soon.
Much Love and Blessed Be
